Description

The audio-technica AT-AC700 is an audio power cable from audio-technica's FLUAT Hi-Fi cable series, with a Japanese 3-pin grounded AC plug rated for 100V.

Conductor

The conductor is a triple hybrid of 6N-OFC (99.99997% oxygen-free copper), PCUHD (Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability, a registered trademark of Furukawa Electric) and HYPER OFC (4N oxygen-free copper made by dip forming, with annealing during drawing and an oxygen content of 10 ppm or less), in a 2 sq × 5-core structure. Hot and cold each use two bundled cores, giving 4 sq of conductor per leg.

Shield and Damping

Double shield of aluminum tape and a HYPER OFC braided shield. An elastomer damping material at the center of the cable reduces the influence of external vibration.

Heat Treatment

Heat Relieve, a high-temperature process, is applied to remove residual stress in the insulation and PVC jacket without damaging the conductor. According to audio-technica, this improves detail retrieval and separation without changing the tonal character.

Plugs

Both the AC plug and the device-side connector are 3-pin grounded types with thick gold plating on all contacts. The resin-molded plug bodies hold the contact blades firmly, which according to audio-technica reduces contact play and cavity resonance inside the plug.
