Description

The audio-technica AT-IC700R is an unbalanced RCA interconnect cable from audio-technica's FLUAT Hi-Fi cable series, designed to minimize signal loss and distortion.

Conductor

The conductor is a triple hybrid of 6N-OFC (99.99997% oxygen-free copper), PCUHD (Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability, a registered trademark of Furukawa Electric) and HYPER OFC (4N oxygen-free copper made by dip forming, with annealing during drawing and an oxygen content of 10 ppm or less). According to audio-technica, 6N-OFC contributes detail and high-frequency extension, and PCUHD contributes low-frequency power and soundstage.

Insulation and Heat Treatment

Fluoropolymer tape is wrapped spirally directly on the conductor. It has low permittivity and dielectric loss, and puts less mechanical stress on the conductor than extrusion coating. Heat Relieve, a high-temperature process, is applied to remove residual stress in the insulation and PVC jacket without damaging the conductor. According to audio-technica, this improves detail retrieval and separation without changing the tonal character.

Shield and Damping

The cable is double-shielded with copper tape and a braided shield, grounded on one side only. An elastomer vibration-damping material is placed inside the jacket.

Plugs

RCA plugs for unbalanced transmission. The hot pins are hollow and filled with glass-fiber-reinforced PBT resin.
