Description

The audio-technica ATH-AWAS is a closed-back, wired over-ear headphone from Audio-Technica's wooden-housing series, with housings made of Asada cherry, a hard Japanese cherry wood. It was released in November 2019 and comes with both a single-ended cable and a balanced XLR cable.

Driver

A 53 mm driver with a DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) coated diaphragm and a 6N-OFC bobbin-wound voice coil. A strong magnet with a pure iron yoke is used for transient response.

Housing

The housings are made of Asada cherry wood with a semi-gloss finish that shows the natural grain, so each unit has a different grain pattern. The D.A.D.S. (Double Air Damping System) double-layer structure uses trapped air to extend the low end.

Arms and Comfort

Magnesium alloy arms are angled for a secure fit and ear cup seal. The headband and ear pads use artificial leather.

Cables

Two detachable 3.0 m cables with A2DC connectors are included: one with a gold-plated 6.3 mm stereo plug, and a balanced cable with an XLR-M 4-pin connector.

Handcrafted in Japan

According to Audio-Technica, its wooden headphones are assembled by hand at its factory in Japan and pass strict inspection and quality standards.
