Description

The DENON AH-D7200 is a closed-back, wired over-ear headphone released for the 50th anniversary of Denon headphones, as the successor to the AH-D7000. Denon says every part, down to the screws, was newly designed, and the headphone is intended for use with modern headphone amplifiers and high-resolution audio.

Driver

A 50 mm free-edge nano-fiber diaphragm driver with a neodymium magnet. The roll-edge support is said to give uniform piston motion across the diaphragm. According to Denon, the drivers are made in Japan.

Housing and Build

The ear cups are made of natural American walnut, chosen by Denon for low inherent vibration, appearance and durability. The hanger is aluminum die-cast with a scale and click-stop adjusters. The headband is natural sheepskin on the outside and durable artificial leather on the inside. The ear pads use Denon's in-house artificial leather, said to last about twice as long as typical artificial leather, with three-dimensional stitching and shape-memory foam.

Cable

The cable is detachable: 3.0 m, 7N OFC (99.99999% oxygen-free copper) conductor with a cloth-braided jacket and machined aluminum plug sleeves. The amplifier-side plug is a 6.3 mm gold-plated stereo standard plug, and the headphone side uses two 3.5 mm mono mini plugs.
