Description

The Oyaide Continental 5S V2 is a premium USB 2.0 Hi-Speed cable designed for high-precision digital audio transmission. It combines a 5N pure silver solid-core signal conductor, 102 SSC power conductors, advanced line-by-line shielding, and high-grade connector construction to deliver stable 480Mbps USB transmission with excellent noise control.

For the signal conductors, Continental 5S V2 uses 5N pure silver solid-core wire. Silver has the highest electrical conductivity among all metals, making it an ideal material for high-speed digital signal transmission. The pure silver wire is carefully processed from jewelry-grade virgin silver, drawn through precision dies, surface-smoothed, and annealed twice to reduce internal stress and improve conductor stability.

The power conductors use 102 SSC, Oyaide’s precision copper conductor. 102 SSC stands for Special Surface Copper, a specially surface-smoothed copper made from Japanese-refined virgin copper with no recycled copper used. This provides stable conductivity and reliable power delivery while maintaining flexibility and safety.

To reduce interference between the signal and power lines, Continental 5S V2 separates the signal pair and power pair, and each line is individually shielded with copper foil. In addition, the cable uses aluminum PET shielding and a silver-plated OFC braided shield to block external high-frequency noise. This multi-layer shielding structure helps reduce jitter-related noise and supports clean, stable digital transmission.

The cable is fully compatible with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed mode, supporting transmission speeds up to 480Mbps. The signal line uses AWG25 pure silver solid wire, which is thicker than standard USB signal conductors, helping reduce transmission loss and voltage drop.

For insulation, Continental 5S V2 uses PFA fluoropolymer, a high-performance insulation material with excellent electrical properties and a very low dielectric constant. To control static charge and internal micro-vibrations, the cable also uses 100% silk filament filler. This helps release static charge from the PFA insulation, maintain low capacitance, improve flexibility, and damp internal vibration.

The connectors use Oyaide’s original USB plugs with RoHS-compliant copper alloy contacts. The contacts are finished with a two-layer direct plating of silver and rhodium, combining high conductivity with durability. The connector covers are machined from brass and finished with beryllium chrome plating for additional shielding and mechanical strength.

102 SSC: Special Surface Copper, Oyaide’s precision copper conductor. It is made from virgin copper refined in Japan, with no recycled copper used. The conductor surface is specially smoothed using natural diamond dies, allowing extremely precise wire drawing with a diameter tolerance of approximately ±1μm. This high-precision process helps improve conductor consistency and supports stable signal transmission. Unlike OCC (Ohno Continuous Casting) copper, which is mainly known for its long-crystal or single-crystal casting process, 102 SSC focuses on copper purity, surface smoothness, and high-precision wire processing. Both are premium copper materials used in audiophile cables, but their manufacturing concepts are different.
