Description
The Oyaide TUNAMI GPX-R V2 is a high-performance audio power cable designed for powerful current delivery, low noise, and dynamic response.
At its core, the cable uses Oyaide’s precision 102 SSC conductor with a large 5.5sq cross-sectional area, supporting high-power transmission with a voltage rating of 600V and a maximum current capacity of 30A.
102 SSC stands for Special Surface Copper. It is made exclusively from virgin copper compliant with JIS C1011, with no recycled copper used. A peeling process removes surface impurities, while natural diamond dies are used during wire drawing to create an exceptionally smooth conductor surface. Each strand is produced with an extremely tight dimensional tolerance of approximately ±1μm, far exceeding the standard tolerance of ±8μm.
The conductor also uses Oyaide’s patented 3E twist structure, which increases strand density and roundness to help stabilize electrical performance. After wire drawing, the strands undergo two annealing processes to reduce mechanical stress and internal strain. Through strict production control and quality management, 102 SSC achieves a conductivity of up to 102.3% IACS.
The conductor is made with short-pitch stranded wire twisted at a higher-than-standard tension, helping reduce random gaps between strands and minimize distortion caused by uneven conductor contact. This supports strong, stable power delivery and an aggressive, responsive sound.
For insulation, the cable uses high-grade polyolefin, selected for its excellent electrical properties. Compared with typical PVC insulation, polyolefin has a much lower dielectric constant, helping reduce electrical loss and support a cleaner, less colored sound. Different polyolefin materials are used for the inner and outer insulation layers to help control resonance inside the cable.
The TUNAMI GPX-R V2 also features a three-layer shielding structure for advanced noise protection. The first layer uses an amorphous polyolefin compound layer that helps absorb electromagnetic noise. The second layer is a carbon layer, which helps release static charge generated inside the cable. The third layer is a copper tape shield, combined with a drain wire and connected to ground to improve the signal-to-noise performance of the power supply environment.
This multi-layer structure helps block external noise, internally generated noise, and vibration-related interference, supporting stable power delivery and a quieter background.
The cable is fitted with Oyaide’s P/C-004 Special Edition power plug and IEC connector. The electrodes are carefully buff-polished and finished with a thicker platinum/palladium plating, specially arranged for the TUNAMI GPX-R V2. The aspirin-white outer cover gives the cable a refined appearance while reflecting its wide-range, neutral sound concept.
