Description

The Pentaconn 4.4mm balanced plug OFC is a DIY 5-pole 4.4mm balanced plug by Nippon DICS, the developer of the Pentaconn 4.4mm connector, for building or re-terminating headphone and earphone cables.

OFC Contacts

The contacts are made of OFC (oxygen-free copper).

Plating

The gold-plated versions use a special non-magnetic underplating. The unplated version leaves the bare OFC surface exposed; like copper coins it forms an oxide film over time, which can be removed with the included copper polishing cloth.

Body

Anodized aluminum body. The straight versions take cables up to about Φ7.0mm; the L-shaped version is compact and takes cables of about Φ4.5mm.

OFC: Oxygen-Free Copper. JEITA RC-8141C: the Japanese standard for the 4.4mm 5-pole balanced connector.
